Bong storyboarded the film almost shot for shot, and the two houses were purpose built to make vertical movement legible in every scene. Staircases and level changes carry the class argument without a line of dialogue. Tone shifts from comedy to horror inside single sequences, held together by consistent camera logic. The flood sequence descends physically through the city in one continuous downhill move. Production designer Lee Ha-jun built the semi-basement and hillside mansion as two connected sets so camera movement between them could be planned as a single spatial system rather than separate locations. Hong Kyung-pyo's cinematography uses natural light gradients to reinforce the vertical class metaphor, with the wealthy household consistently brighter than the poorer one regardless of time of day. Editor Yang Jinmo maintains tonal control through the horror-comedy shifts by cutting on character reaction rather than event, a technique that keeps audiences oriented even as genre expectations collapse.
